5/15/20

Today you will look at the arguments for and against the Vietnam War. Using the document below, you will discover and organize the arguments for each side.

Context: Hawks were those who were very pro-war. They saw a great need to go and win the fight against Communism in Vietnam. Doves were very anti-war. They thought America should stay out of it.

On page two of the document linked below are several quotes from each side. Label each one with an H or a D to indicate which side that argument is for. Then for each quote, summarize the argument on the appropriate side of the T-chart. Example: Quote 1 would be labeled H. In the T-chart under Hawks, you might say "vital to national security".   By the end, you will have a list of reasons under each side of the chart.

**If you get stuck or are having trouble summarizing the arguments, look at chapter 50 section 3 of your textbook under "Johnson's advisers debate increased involvement".

Submit to Hawks/Doves Activity on Tii when finished by 10 pm. If your formatting gets thrown off on the quotes, no worries.
